Alleged Ebola rumor spreader identifies self

His name is Jim White, and he blogs at northwestlibertynews.com. After reading Flathead Memo this morning, he emailed me that he had asked his followers to confirm information originating from Steve Quayle, a Bozeman based blogger. I asked White for a copy of his email. Here it is:

…what you see below is all I put in print. Meaning, I just sent this e-mail and didn’t actually publish anything.

Good morning,

Steve Quayle’s website is reporting a potential case of Ebola here in Kalispell. For those of you who receive this e-mail and have contacts at the hospital, please try to verify for me. I have a couple calls out, but have not yet heard back from my sources. There is a level 4 Ebola containment hospital in Missoula and perhaps they were transferred there? Any help on this would be appreciated, because if it’s solid information it’s being buried by local media.

White wasn’t spreading rumors. He was attempting to confirm the rumors that Quayle reported.

Whether White should have given Quayle’s report any credence is another matter. Quayle cites “reliable 3% sources”, accuses the mainstream media of covering up the presence of a patient with active Ebola at KRMC, and concludes:

I for one am leaning more towards our 3% sources over what our investigative reporter can get from hospital officials. Submitted by “The Resistance.”

The Resistance? Reliable 3% sources? Let’s just say that Steve Quayle’s not mainstream, and seems considerably more inclined than I am to believe certain things.

Having a patient with active Ebola is not something that a hospital can cover up, or will try to cover up. That kind of information can’t be kept secret. Furthermore, hospital officials understand that their credibility goes up in smoke with the first attempt to suppress the facts. So do the mainstream and other media.

My thanks to Jim White for stepping forward and putting an end to speculation over the identity of the blogger who so raised the ire of the InterLake and KRMC.
