Montana’s Democrats should rally to John Heenan’s flag

Having the wisdom and courage to take forthright, sensible, positions on the most important issues matters. That’s why I’m voting for John Heenan for the Democratic nomination for Montana’s seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

No issue matters more to me than health care, the fundamental human right that allows us to enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Only a health care system covering everyone for everything — a zero copay, federal single-payer system financed by progressive taxes — can provide equal protection under the law to Americans.

John Heenan is the only Democrat running for Congress in Montana who recognizes — and unequivocally asserts — that health care is a right, and promises to vote for Medicare for All:

John believes that we need to put people’s health above insurance company and health industry profits. The current proposed healthcare law would be a disaster for families in Montana. It eliminates protections for people with pre-existing conditions, rips away coverage from 70,000 Montanans and causes premiums to increase for countless others. John believes healthcare is a right, and he supports affordable healthcare for everyone, and would vote for Medicare for All. Heenan’s issues page.

Heenan is not the only candidate for the Democratic nomination. He’s not the only Democrat for whom I could vote in good conscience. But of all the Democrats seeking the nomination, he far and away provides the best combination of commitment to progressive Democratic principles, advocacy for hard working people and for those down on their luck, leadership, campaigning savvy, and vigor and determination. Democrats would be wise to rally to his flag.
