Rep. Manzella thinks Tim Fox was endorsed by socialists and communists

Rep. Theresa Manzella (R-Hamilton) (Facebook) represents House District 85, the doughtnut district surrounding Hamilton in the increasingly conservative Bitterroot Valley. Now seeking a third term, she’s known for not hesitating to speak her mind — and also known for sometimes not fully engaging her brain before opening her mouth.

Earlier this week, commenting on a possible student walkout in support of gun control, she succumbed to her speak first, think later, weakness. According to the Missoulian:

In a post, Manzella said she was working to expose the MEA/MFT as being part of the radical left.

“It’s become painfully obvious the teachers union is working against our constitution and for socialism and communism,” Manzella wrote.

Hoo, boy, that’s a thigh-slapper for the ages. She’s accusing the teachers union that endorsed Republican Tim Fox for MT Attorney General of being red instead of red-white-and-blue. Granted, some Montana Republicans think Fox is a RINO, but he’s out on the right wing far enough that any thought that endorsing him proves a union is pinko is risible.

Thus far, no Democrat has filed for HD-85. Filing closes at 1700 MDT Monday. A failure to file can be construed as a tacit endorsement of Manzella, who might delight at running unopposed, but drop her jaw in dumbfoundment at being given a free pass by the political party that’s generally considered pro-union.
