The sexual assault accusations leveled at Joe Biden
are without merit and should be ignored

Twenty-seven years ago, Tara Reade was a staff assistant for Sen. Joe Biden. Now, with Biden certain to be the Democratic nominee for president, Reade claims that Biden assaulted her in a senate hallway.

  • Reade left Biden's employment in 1993. According to the New York Times, she never again worked in Washington.

  • Daily Kos reports her account of her encounter with Biden is close to identical to a novel written by her late father, Robert Moulton.

  • She wrote Tweets, now deleted, and posts on Medium, also deleted, praising Putin, according to the NY Times: “Ms. Reade said she faced a wave of criticism and death threats, as well as accusations that she was a Russian agent because of Medium posts and tweets, several of which are now deleted, she had written praising President Vladimir Putin. Ms. Reade said that she was not working for Russia and did not support Mr. Putin, and that her comments were pulled out of context from a novel she was writing at the time.

  • There were no witnesses. There is no corroborating evidence. There are “Tara told me” stories from some women, but that’s hearsay, not evidence.

Consequently, it’s a he said, she-said, situation, a set of circumstances in which the #MeToo zealots demand believing Reade because women are supposed to be believed. For these people, an accusation is the same as a conviction. If Biden denies the accusations, he’s by definiton a liar and therefore guilty as alleged.

Reade’s story is unraveling by the hour. This is not a #MeToo situation. It’s a political hit job timed to weaken his support among suburban women, nothing more. The newspapers, hungry for news not connected to the coronavirus pandemic, are amusing themselves because the content is salacious and Biden is prominent. They think they’ve got the fox on the run, but in reality they’re gullible rubes making fools of themselves conducting a snipe hunt.
